  • Newly established business unit
  • Roles at Chief Data Analyst and Senior/Data Analyst levels
  • Exciting and varied work programme | See your work have real impact
About us:
The Education Review Office (ERO) works for the benefit of New Zealand's young children and students.

ERO has recently established the Data & Insights Unit, with the aim of building ERO’s ability to be data and intelligence led.  The Unit will be tasked with creating and maintaining data and intelligence tools that will guide all ERO’s work.  It will draw together a wide range of data and intelligence about education across New Zealand into new tools to inform ERO’s work.  In this the Unit will build on work already commenced and will ensure data will be translated into insights that will help ERO to improve outcomes for children.

About the roles:
This brand new Unit will initially comprise two people – the Chief Data Analyst and a Senior/Data Analyst.

The Chief Data Analyst will drive the setup of the Unit including development of the data and intelligence tools ERO needs to inform of its work in schools and early childhood education.  You will be working with teams across the organisation to develop and build tools that bring together a range of intelligence to guide ERO’s work.  This will draw together both quantitative and qualitative intelligence from a range of sources and identify innovative ways of analysing and visualising data for maximum impact.  The role will include working across the government sector to build relationships to ensure access to timely and relevant data.

About you:
For the Chief Data Analyst role we are keen to hear from you if you bring strong data, insights and quantitative research skills and are a skilled user of statistical software and data visualisation tools.  You will be keen to lead a team and have experience in utilising data and insights to have impact.  Additionally, you will have excellent customer and stakeholder engagement abilities along with strong networks in the public sector’s data community.

The Senior/Data Analyst role will require experience using statistical analysis programmes and tools such as Microsoft Power BI or similar for visualising data.

ERO has a strong focus on career development and keenly supports the professional growth of the people who work there.  This is a unique opportunity to help shape ERO’s progression further into the data and insights space, and to see your work have a real impact on education outcomes.
